High Point Furniture Market Recap: How Furniture Stores Shop for Furniture
Every spring, designers and store owners from across the country gather in High Point, NC for Furniture Market, the premier event for discovering the latest in home design.
It’s an exciting time for our team and our vendors, as we get a first look at brand-new styles, colors, and trends that will shape the seasons ahead. While we are not licensed designers, we’ve seen enough to know a trend.
This year, our Jacksonville and Nashville teams spent two full days (and walked tens of thousands of steps!) exploring showrooms, testing out products, and hand-picking the pieces we’re most excited to bring to our floors. After some much-needed rest, we’re ready to share a little sneak peek of what we discovered.
Green is Trending
Green is having a major moment in interior design. As one upholstery veteran put it, “This year, green is finally doing what everyone has wanted it to do.” From bold accent walls and cozy sectionals to throw pillows and indoor plants, shades of green are popping up everywhere. As more people look to create calm, grounded spaces, green has become the go-to color for bringing the soothing essence of nature indoors. Whether it’s a deep forest hue or a soft sage, incorporating green elements is a stylish way to refresh your home with a natural, serene vibe.
Considering going green? For a calming, nature-inspired vibe, choose soft greens like olive, moss, or sage. Pair these earthy tones with muted neutrals. Think creamy whites, natural wood finishes, terracotta, or subdued blues to create a serene, Zen-like atmosphere.
Prefer something more luxurious? Opt for rich tones like forest or emerald green to add a bold, sophisticated flair to your space. These deeper hues exude elegance and pair beautifully with jewel tones, brass or gold accents, and soft, dusty pinks for a balanced yet striking palette. For a more dramatic statement, try styling your emerald green sofa with crisp black and white elements. This high-contrast combination makes the color truly stand out.
Poufs are Back
A furniture pouf is a versatile, cushioned piece of furniture, usually low to the ground and often round or cube-shaped, that can serve multiple purposes in a space. The most obvious use for these adorable cubes is as a footrest, but more firm poufs can also serve as extra seating in smaller spaces, and a larger pouf can act as an additional table. Just add a cocktail tray!
Marble & Travertine
Marble and travertine continue to dominate the design scene in 2025, and for good reason. These natural stones are celebrated not just for their durability, but also for the elegance and warmth they bring to a space. Marble, with its classic veining and polished finish, adds a sophisticated, timeless touch to any room. Meanwhile, travertine offers a more relaxed, organic feel with its soft, earthy tones, perfect for creating serene, inviting interiors. Whether used in kitchens, bathrooms, or as statement furniture, these materials are as functional as they are beautiful.
Wood Frames and Accents
Wood may be one of the most traditional materials in furniture design, but that doesn't make it any less exciting. In fact, it’s been a staple in furniture-making since the very beginning, and for good reason. What keeps it fresh is how designers continually reimagine its use, bringing out its natural beauty in new and creative ways. From rich grains and varied textures to a wide range of finishes, wood adds warmth, character, and a sense of timeless sophistication to upholstered furniture. Whether you're drawn to the clean, minimal lines of a modern wood frame or the intricate carvings of a more classic design, wooden elements have a unique way of elevating the entire look and feel of a piece.
Immersive Sound
In the coming months, new living room sets will be hitting showrooms with a serious tech upgrade, delivering the comfort and functionality you love, now with an immersive twist that takes home entertainment to the next level. These next-gen sofas are equipped with immersive sound technology, meaning the audio system is built directly into the structure of the furniture itself. Through integrated speakers, vibration transducers, and advanced sound systems, the sofa becomes more than just a place to sit; it transforms into a powerful entertainment hub and changes the way you experience your favorite movie. Seriously, we got to watch Top Gun on one. They’re like, really cool.
Sleeper Alternatives
One of the most clever new products we spotted came from Franklin Furniture: innovative sleeper alternatives that offer a smart solution for multi-use spaces. Over the years, we’ve talked to countless people searching for sleeper sofas to place in their spare rooms; whether it's doubling as a home office, playroom, or simply not used often enough to justify a full bed. The challenge? Many don’t want to sacrifice valuable space, and even more run into the common (and frustrating) issue of narrow interior doorways that make it nearly impossible to get a full-sized sofa inside. That’s where Franklin’s Dreamscape Collection comes in. These modular sets are designed with flexibility in mind. Each piece can be moved easily, and the ottomans fit perfectly against the seats to create a sleep surface that matches the dimensions of a twin-size mattress. Just add sheets and a pillow, and your guest has a cozy spot to rest, without the hassle of a traditional sleeper. It’s a practical, space-saving option that finally solves a common home dilemma.
The Future of Furniture? Sectionals in a Box.
You’ve seen it on TikTok, we got a first look in person: foam block, drop-ship ready sofas and sectional! While they’re not ready to hit showrooms just yet, the prototypes we previewed were a supportive, comfortable, alternative to traditional living room sets. Stay tuned, for our next Market recap in the fall, these could be a game-changer.
